The Garden Elixir That Smells Like Regret (But Grows Like a Dream)
There are two types of gardeners in this world:
- Those who garden for beauty, peace, and tranquility.
- Those who willingly open a container of Gardenersbud Bud and Bloom Compost Tea to make their garden PRODUCE!
I used to be the first type.
Then I cracked the lid.
Let me set the scene. It was a calm morning. Birds were chirping. The sun was rising. I had my watering can in one hand and optimism in the other. I opened the Bud and Bloom compost tea, expecting maybe a light earthy aroma… perhaps something reminiscent of a forest floor after rain.
Instead, what I got was… betrayal.
Not just a smell—an experience. A full-body, eye-watering, soul-questioning experience. The kind of smell that makes you immediately look around to see if something has gone terribly wrong in a nearby barnyard.
“Ah,” I thought, gasping for air, “this must be the bone meal, phosphorus, and potassium doing their… thing.”
And oh, they were doing their thing.
Now, any reasonable person would have sealed that container back up and quietly re-evaluated their life choices.
But gardeners are not reasonable people.
We are hopeful people.
So I soldiered on.
Application day turned into what I can only describe as a test of personal strength. I mixed up a batch and poured that potent potion onto my plants while holding my breath like I was defusing a bomb. Neighbors slowed their cars. A dog barked suspiciously. I’m pretty sure a squirrel filed a complaint.
But I kept going, whispering encouragement to my plants like, “You better appreciate this.”
And then… something magical happened.
Within days, my garden went from “doing okay” to “auditioning for a seed catalog.” Buds everywhere. Flowers popping like confetti. Tomatoes that looked like they had been hitting the gym. Peppers standing tall with the confidence of a plant that knows it’s superior.
It was as if my garden had collectively decided to show off.
The smell? Still terrible.
The results? Absolutely ridiculous—in the best way.
I’m now harvesting more fruits and vegetables than I know what to do with. Friends are suddenly very interested in visiting. I’ve become that person who casually says things like, “Oh these? Just a few extras from the garden.”
What I don’t tell them is the price I paid… in nostril trauma.
So here’s the truth about Gardenersbud Bud and Bloom Compost Tea:
- It smells like something you should legally report
- It will make you question your gardening decisions
- It may temporarily ruin your relationship with fresh air
But—
- Your plants will thrive
- Your blooms will multiply
- Your harvest will make you feel like an agricultural wizard
In the end, gardening isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes it’s messy. Sometimes it’s smelly. And sometimes it involves willingly pouring what can only be described as “liquid motivation” onto your plants.
Would I use it again?
Absolutely.
Will I open it upwind next time?
Also absolutely.
Because when it comes down to it, I’ve learned an important lesson:
If it smells that bad… it’s probably doing something amazing. 🌱
